Online roundtable

When the school can't be reached, where do the buses go?

Your campus closes at 07:40 with every bus out. Join school leaders and transport teams to talk through diverting buses safely when flooding, fire, a security lockdown, a road closure or a protest makes the school unreachable.

What we'll discuss

Divert. Shelter. Reunite.

A fire at school, a security threat, a flood. Sometimes bringing the buses back to campus only makes the problem worse. A diversion plan is one of the things schools rarely think about until they need it, and it has three parts.

01

Divert

Every bus knows where to go instead of campus, and everyone knows who gives the order.

02

A safe haven, not just a shelter

A car park or a lay-by is not a plan. School staff should be there to receive the children, because bus staff alone are rarely trained for this.

03

Reunite

Reconnect every child with their parents, or get them to school once it is safe, with a record of who collected whom.

How Together School handles it

Every bus knows where to go.

Diversions and Safe Zones was built with schools operating under emergency conditions in the Gulf, where buses in transit had to be redirected within minutes. The same tool covers any incident that makes the school unreachable, from flooding and fire to road closures and protests.

01

Declare the incident

Pick the buses in transit, title the diversion and write what drivers need to know.

02

Choose the Safe Zones

Nearest, fastest by live traffic, or let each driver choose from the list.

03

Drivers acknowledge

A full-screen alert interrupts the route. The driver must acknowledge before diverting.

04

Stand down

A cancellation notice hides the Safe Zones and tells every driver the diversion is over.

The diversion notification in the Together School console: pick the buses, choose how Safe Zones are assigned, and send.
